Pony has hooked up with a company called PPG that has a process that gives cars their shine called Vivaflex and has put in on its shoes (if I am reading what is on the site correctly). It looks like what Jordan has on its Spiz’ike sneakers (I even think Jordan wanted it on its AJ 14’s but the technology wasn’t there) except WAAAYYY more polished.

From the last picture, it would seem that even the “cheveron” check has a finish to it. On the Nikekicks Lookbook site, it says that PPG has created a way to attach this finish to many diffferent types of materials including synthetic leather.
And that yellowing you get on those shoe is also a thing of the past. Apparently the finish does not chnge color!!!!
Another feature that may be of importance to you is that it is also flexible so it won’t wrinkle anywhere near as easily as patent leather. Since every other sneaker maker is putting patent leather on their sneakers, maybe Pony will take it to another level and use this PPG technology and crate some real hot boy shoes that Boys 2 Men will wear at their next concert (for you sneaker fans, if you remember, Boys 2 men wore AJ11’s as shoes along with formal wear for a concert)
They have other colors of this shoe including blue, orange, gray and white. What are my favoite? GLAD YOU ASKED!!! I’m partial to the red ones as well as the blue. I love the white ones with the light blue “chevron” but I think the red ones show off the shine of the car paint coating.
This looks very, very promising. The car paint thing can go forever! You can have flecks in it, you can have “fazing” colors, matte, gloss, and so on. I’m looking forward to matte cause I want one of my used cars (LOL) to be recolored in a gray matte. So if i can get matching sneakers, that would be nice.
