That Fitted Is Not Hot, Son: Official MLB Licensed Gang Wear Is Protested
Wow man… out of the 3 hats that I saw in some newspaper (this is where I first heard of this a few weeks ago), the hat pictured above seemed like the most normal. I would have never thought it would stand for the Latin Kings.
Now those other 2 hats (which I last saw on sale on Eastbay… I guess they didn’t pull them down yet) with the red bandanna look around the outside of one cap and blue on another looked very obvious to me… once it was pointed out that is.
If no one told me, I wouldn’t think too much of it.
Here a picture of another one:
More shots here.
This is all over the web. Many places picked it up. Heck, even 1010 Wins (a radio station around my way) has it. And boy do people sound off on this particular issue.
Of course freedom of speech came up, but I don’t really think that is the main issue (just one of them). Did New Era know about the gang ties? Did the Yankees even bother to take a look at what comes out with their name on it? What do parents think? What do Higschool’ers think?
stopgangviolenceny HAS A VIDEO OUT ON THE SUBJECT
